Every puzzle has exactly one solution and is rated by the solving techniques it needs. Print one giant grid per page, or up to six.
How to play sudoku
Fill the grid so that every row, every column and every 3 × 3 box contains the numbers 1 through 9 exactly once. No math is needed; it's a puzzle of logic.
Beginner strategies
- Cross-hatching: pick a number, say 5. Look at a box without a 5 and cross out the rows and columns that already have a 5. If only one square is left, the 5 goes there.
- Only choice in a square: if a square's row, column and box already contain eight different numbers, the ninth goes in that square.
- Pencil marks: on harder puzzles, note the possible numbers in each square and look for pairs that can only go in two places.
Questions
How are the difficulty levels decided?
Easy and medium puzzles can be solved by finding the only place a number fits. Hard puzzles also need pairs and pointing techniques. Expert puzzles need more advanced reasoning. Fewer starting numbers make each level harder.
Does every puzzle have one solution?
Yes. Each puzzle is checked by a solver before you see it, so there is always exactly one correct answer and no guessing is required on easy to hard.
How do I print large print sudoku?
Choose '1 (largest print)' in Puzzles per printed page and press Print. The grid fills the page and the answers print on page two.
What are notes?
Small pencil marks for numbers that might go in a square. Turn Notes on, tap numbers to add or remove them, and turn Notes off to fill in an answer.
